Give Thanks…

2 May

Give Thanks for kind words spoken to our best friend.

This quilt was the cause of unkind words.  That doesn’t seem likely, does it?

After the bedspread was purchased, I shot my mouth off and said… “It looks like your old one, can’t you update a little.”  “If you hadn’t been lured into the store by a coupon you would have saved 100% not just 65%.”  “You’re not working AND you’re breaking the budget, get a grip!”   “This thing was made in China!  What happened to your organic, locally produced, kum-ba-ya principals?”…

Who was I talking mean to?  Myself.

If  you, my dear friend, had purchased this quilt I would have offered these kind words.  “It’s beautiful and it’s very much your style.”  “You got a screamin’ good deal.”  “You deserve a little decorative treat.”  “Adjustments can be made to the budget, this quilt won’t break the bank.”  “Oh, don’t beat yourself up over buying something made in China, it’s hard to find American made products these days.”

Ever catch your mind being mean to, umm, yourself?  I have, especially when it comes to buyer’s remorse.  Well, there’s no reason why we can’t talk to ourselves in the same considerate way we would talk to our best friend.  After all, we are our best friend!
