PS Terri Sandoval DID make every one of the hundreds of cards she sent to PGT and the patients who enjoy them so very much!…
Beauty, Creativity, Effort, Money, and LOVE came out of this box! Enjoy looking at some of it. There are only a few cards left because cancer patients have already selected beautiful cards to show their feelings and they’ve sent them off to their loved ones, nurses, doctors, neighbors and church members.
I believe Terri Sandoval sent these cards, I know she made many of them because her name was on the back of them. Hey Terri, send me the names of anyone who helped you. I’d sure like to say “THANK YOU!” to all of you!
Ziplock baggies full of hugs comin’ your way everyone!
Please Send Cards!

Here is a message from one of the nurses at RRMC…
I was quietly delivering cards on Monday morning when one of the nurses touched my arm and said I have to tell you something. My immediate response was “I’m in trouble now.” Nope, she said, in a very serious and sensitive voice, “We have had several people become very upset while being set up with their treatments. After unsuccessfully trying to calm them we offered the basket of cards for them to look at and told them the Project Give Thanks story. They really were distracted by the beautiful cards and couldn’t believe that people made them. We all (the nursing staff) appreciate having this extra tool to help relax our patients. Thank you and thank everyone who sends cards.” WOW! That was a conversation I’ll always remember. It sent chills up my spine and renewed my devotion.
YOU and your generosity made this happen! Thank you all!
There’s more so you’ll be hearing from me soon. Sorry it’s been so long; busy times.
Many calming hugs, Sonja

Have cards or card fronts to give? Please send them on. We have officially run out. Supplying cards for two communities obviously takes twice as many cards so please send them on. Thank you so much.

Hey Boulder County Neighbors,
Are you busy this Sunday at around 11 a.m.? I didn’t think so… Join me and others at the Scrapbook Shack in Louisville (next to Carrabbas). We’ll be making greeting cards for the good folks fighting cancer at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center and Exempla Comprehensive Cancer Center. Patients use these cards to stay in touch with family and to thank those generous people who are helping them get through a tough time. Yes, Project Give Thanks needs your help making cards. No experience necessary! All material supplied. Send me a message if you need more details.
Hugs, Sonja
“Tx for showing me another way to bless!” That’s how Jan Bruzewski ended her letter to me. Just about everyone who sends me cards is thankful to have a way to help cancer *survivors. That’s a big part of the Project Give Thanks cycle.
I met Jan at a Stampin’ Up make and take card event in Estes Park. She took to the idea of giving her handmade cards to cancer survivors right away. In no time I received a package of cards from her. THANK YOU JAN!
*Did you know that a cancer survivor is anyone living with cancer or in remission, not just those who have passed the 5 year mark. I’ve been a survivor for four years!
Hey! “You make me smile” too Jan.
Hugs to All,
Sonja
Summertime with Project Give Thanks
Hello Faithful Friends,
Hasn’t this been another full summer? Why do we think of this season as one of rest? Sunnier days may be filled with a more fun busy-ness but it is still busy. One of my summer trips took me to Dayton Ohio where I spent 10 days playing in my sister’s fully stocked Stampin’ Up! studio. Wow! That was fun. I also picked and ate june strawberries from her garden every morning just before settling in on the deck to watch the beautiful chicken antics. Really, her chickens are beautiful!
This really isn’t a “what I did on summer vacation” story. It’s a “Thank You” story. Michelle, my sister, had three Stampin’ Up! events while I was there and she gave me the left over card packets to make cards for Project Give Thanks! This morning I’m finally putting them all together because I’m in a hurry for the good folks at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center to use and enjoy them.
If you happen to have card packets left over from your events I would be thrilled to finish them and donate them for you. Any beautiful card at any point in its creation is welcome and needed! Thank you and please remember to relax a little this summer. You know that the frantic, no time to rest holidays “HalloweenThanksgivingChristmas” are only a few months away. Rest up!
Lemonade scented hugs,
Sonja
Hey there all you happy stampers,
I have some exciting Project Give Thanks news to announce.
This Sunday, May 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. there will be a volunteer card making workshop and all of the cards will be given to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center chemo patients. WooHoo!
We will meet at the Scrapbook Shack 525 S. McCaslin Blvd., Louisville, CO 80027 (next to Carrabba’s).
This is a FREE event and materials will be supplied.
In addition to sharing your creative expertise and time, please feel free to donate the beautiful handcrafted cards and card fronts that you are not using. We will give these wonderful handmade cards to some very special people.
One of the many lessons I learned, during my cancer treatment, is that it takes a community of talented and loving people to help get a cancer patient through the overwhelming process of fighting the disease. Patients often want to show their appreciation for that but just don’t have the energy to shop for thank you cards. They also want to stay active in their family’s lives by sending birthday, wedding, baby… cards. That’s where our Project Give Thanks cards come in. They are available, free of course, right in the chemo room which is convenient because receiving treatment usually takes 4 hours and there’s not much to do so, it’s a good time to send a few cards. As you see in the above photo, our cards are available and well received in the cancer support group meeting room too.
Artist, Chris Pereire, is responsible for organizing this event! Be sure to thank her when you see her. It looks like we may be able to meet every month. That would be a huge WOW! I’ll keep you posted.
Big Ol’ inky hugs,
Sonja
I’ve recently learned something new about WordPress (my blog) which finally allows me to publish photos of these cards. Enjoy!
Thank you Sally Bailey for this wonderful donation of cards. They were given to Nana Bo Christianson RN, who is the nurse advocate for new cancer patients. She also runs the RMCS support group. She requested them for her new patients. The cards will be filled with gratitude and sent to many a relative, doctor, neighbor… Thanks will be given in a beautiful handmade card. How wonderful!
Late night hugs for all of you,
Sonja
Hello Everyone,
My confession is that I’ve lost track of who sent what and when. I’m really sorry about this because I love giving you a personal shout-out for your generosity. With the exception of my son getting married and me starting a Stampin’ Up business all of my excuses are pathetic. Well, what to do? I’m just going to show you some very photogenic cards and tell you that someone wonderful sent them! Here we go…
There’s more to come so stay tuned.
Hugs, Sonja
Isn’t that sweet!? Not only did Laurel Stimler send fantastic cards, she also sent all of those envelopes! “Thank you Laurel!”
Laurel isn’t the only one who sends me a beautiful handmade card with their donations. I just wanted to make sure that I mentioned this because I appreciate them all so very much!
Sending you hugs as beautiful as your cards,
Sonja
